Colours Oasis Resort

Going to Central America?

Rainbow Tourism's Recommendation
for that part of the gay globe is called Colours Oasis.

Colours Oasis Resort

Colours B&B started in 1983 in the trendy gay resort town of Key West, Florida.  It was the creation of ex-realtor from Denver James Remes. After many years of expansion, redecorating and repainting, he sold the B&B and relocated to Costa Rica.

About 25 years ago he opened Colours Oasis Resort as a gay and lesbian destination hotel and learned to speak espanol!  The Oasis Resort is full-service, with tropical pool, jacuzzi and full breakfast included. For one person @$59 per night, that’s a real bargain in the off-peak season.

Marrero

P.S. The original Colours Key West (where I was the first marketing director and representative to IGTA at its founding) has since been renamed Marrero’s at the same location, 410 Fletcher St.  When I painted this porch I selected the original Victorian-era shade of paint – much to the dislike of our resident ghost, the original mistress of the mansion. Built in 1889 by Francisco Marrero, a prominent cigarmaker, the home's objective was to lure his young love to the island. The charm must have been successful, his bride is said to enjoy the home beyond her life. Some believe she still moves through "her" house at night keeping a benevolent eye on things
