Destination Sydney, NSW
G'day & Welcome to Sydney, the home of Mardi Gras and much more for Lesbian and Gay Visitors!

Sydney is the capital of the first state, New South Wales. But a letter addressed to Sydney, Australia (without the NSW or post code 2000) will find its way to the Gay Capital of the World.

I'm an American by birth, but Australian by adoption. Once I set foot on Bondi Beach, heard a performance at the Opera House, climbed the Harbour Bridge, and strolled down Oxford Street (the street that never sleeps), there was no going home after the Gay Games in 2002.

I've been downunder long enough to count three Mardi Gras celebrations, and to discover a plethora of lesbian and gay activities, social groups and business networks. With so much to see and do, I feel like my stay has been one long holiday. I'm having a gay old time!

Sydney and the outer meccas like Newcastle and Byron Bay offer many ways to satisfy your lifestyle, no matter your gender, age, ethnic heritage, or inspiration. The beautiful beaches and Blue Mountains inspire me; others get inspired by the incomparable retail therapy opportunities, spectacular sports and the sensational food and wine indulgences.

There's plenty here to satisfy your appetite, whether it's for the world famous Mardi Gras festival or the Sleaze Ball, for the Sydney Opera House or the Botanical Gardens, for the marvelous beaches like Bondi and Coogee, or for escapes to the Snowy Mountains, the Hunter Valley Wine Region, the southern Sapphire Coast, and the laid-back rhythms of Byron Bay and Lismore in the northern region.

Sydney is a city like no other. New South Wales is just plain spectacular. And life downunder the rainbow is great. Come see why Sydney is one of the top three gay destinations in the world - and why lesbians and gays love the freedom of living in a tolerant, accepting place called Oz.
