Only in Australia: Stand Up Paddling With Tai Chi Twist

Visiting Australia’s Gay Gold Coast and looking for a different kind of surf experience?

Why not try a local invention by Surf Coach Brad Holmes that he calls SUP Tai Chi. That’s Stand Up Paddling blended with Tai Chi and Qigong exercises on the gentle Nerang River at Budd’s Beach in the heart of Surfer’s Paradise.

Never been on a SUP board or done Tai Chi on the beach? No worries. Whether you’re a beginner or are an advanced surfer, all the sessions are tailored to personal needs and wants. You get to stand up and paddle on a top quality board, plus put your exercise moves to work after practicing them onshore. All that instruction from a former surfing champion and Tai Chi instructor.

Brad’s lessons happen at a very peaceful and picturesque location. “We paddle in clear water on the river behind the ocean, looking out at boats, mountains and the city. Budd’s Beach is a painter’s dream setting,” he says. He’s taught local LGBT community groups as well as gay and lesbian visitors to the very gay Gold Coast.

When in Queensland, go SUPing with a twist!
