 Te Anua is right on the edge of the beautiful Fiordland National Park.
Lake Te Anua is a favorite sports ground by locals and tourist alike. The lake itself offer fishing, and boat trips, and well as water skiing and of course swimming.
From the Te Anau township trampers (hikers) can walk sections of famous Kepler track, either a short 30 minute hike, or the more demanding day hike to Mt Luxmore and back. The Dusky Track offer hikers a challenging but fantastically beautiful 84km which requires at least 8 days to complete. Stays in overnight hut's can be booked, remembering to make bookings well in advance during the Summer months.
Other hiking tracks near Te Anua include the Hollyford Track which is 56 km, and takes 4 days to hike one-way, the Kepler Track, a 60 km Hike, George Sound Track which is suitable for only experience hikers. The Garnock Track, Key Summit track to name just a few hiking trips, which can be taken in and around Te Anau.
